The UPCYCLE consortium held its third Executive Board meeting on 31 August 2026, marking the completion of the project's first twelve months. Partners met online to review progress, coordinate ongoing activities, and agree on how collaboration across work packages will be organised during the next phase of the project.

The UPCYCLE project took part in the 13th International Conference on Fiber and Polymer Biotechnology (IFPB 2026), held from 26 to 29 August in Genoa, Italy. Bringing together researchers, industry representatives, and technology developers, the conference explored how biotechnology and bioprocesses are shaping the future of fibres, polymers, and sustainable material systems.

The UPCYCLE project will take part in the 20th International Symposium on Biopolymers (ISBP 2026), taking place in Dublin, Ireland, from 6 to 9 September 2026. Organised by the project partner, University College Dublin (UCD), the symposium brings together researchers, scientists, and industry professionals working across the biopolymer value chain, from production and processing to applications and biodegradation.

The UPCYCLE project was represented at the European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB2026), held from 28 June to 1 July in Antwerp, Belgium, one of Europe’s key events bringing together researchers and industry working at the forefront of biotechnology.

On 24 June, UPCYCLE took part in the General Assembly of its sister project EOILÉ, contributing to discussions on how projects working on sustainable materials can strengthen their joint impact.
