A salad film, a cheese wrapper, a kefir bottle. Three everyday products that are almost impossible to recycle today, and three reasons EROSKI took a seat at the table when the future of food packaging was discussed in Bilbao.

The packaging we use every day is not a neutral choice. On 26 May 2026, sister project E-OilÉ brought that message to the centre of its M12 Workshop, gathering scientists, industry experts and civil society organisations for a 90-minute online session on how everyday packaging decisions affect human health and the planet.

On 26 May 2026, our sister project EOilÉ will host an engaging online workshop titled “The Power of Everyday Decisions: A New Vision for Sustainability.” The event will bring together experts from policy, industry, and civil society to examine the real impact of the packaging we use every day, and the innovative solutions being developed to improve it.

The UPCYCLE consortium successfully held its second Executive Board meeting on 4 May 2026, bringing together partners to review progress, share updates across all work packages, and reinforce coordination as the project moves forward.

UPCYCLE, represented by the coordinator partner Aalborg University, took part in the Nordic Bioplastic Conference 2026, held at Industriens Hus in Copenhagen. The event brought together companies, researchers, policymakers and organisations from across the bioplastics value chain. 

The third and final UPCYCLE Industry Roundtable took place on 15 April in Spain, bringing together a highly engaged group of stakeholders from across the food packaging value chain. Organised by EROSKI and AIMPLAS, with the collaboration of the Basque Food Cluster, the session marked the conclusion of the threecountry roundtable series launched earlier in Belgium and Denmark.
