The UPCYCLE project was featured at the AMI Compounding & Recycling Expo 2026 (formerly Compounding World Expo), held on 23 and 24 September at Messe Frankfurt, Germany, through the participation of project partner AIMPLAS. The event brought together professionals from across the plastics and compounding sectors to discuss material innovation, processing technologies, recycling, and sustainability.

As part of the programme, Ana Mangas from AIMPLAS delivered a presentation focused on reactive extrusion and mechanochemistry in co-rotating twin-screw extruders, highlighting the role of advanced processing technologies in developing new solutions for the plastics industry. The presentation also provided an opportunity to introduce UPCYCLE and share how the project is exploring innovative routes for transforming plastic waste into valuable new materials.
Alongside the presentation, UPCYCLE was showcased at the AIMPLAS exhibition stand (Hall 11, E1015), where project materials were available throughout the event. Interest in the project was evident, with all UPCYCLE flyers distributed during the exhibition, reflecting strong engagement from attendees interested in circular plastics, sustainable materials, and emerging technologies for waste valorisation.

The event connected UPCYCLE with professionals across the plastics value chain, from material developers and processors to technology providers and end users. Bringing the project’s work into an industrial setting like this one allows new technologies to be discussed, challenged and connected with real-world applications.
