The UPCYCLE consortium held its third Executive Board meeting on 31 August 2026, marking the completion of the project’s first twelve months. Partners met online to review progress, coordinate ongoing activities, and agree on how collaboration across work packages will be organised during the next phase of the project.
The first part of the meeting focused on updates from across the consortium, covering progress against project plans, active tasks, current challenges, and priorities for the coming six months. Discussions also addressed the continued alignment of activities, protocols, and materials across teams, alongside dissemination activities and the project’s Month 12 reporting activities.
A key outcome of the meeting was the establishment of cross-work package working groups organised around the main polymer families developed within UPCYCLE. These groups will strengthen coordination between partners working at different stages of the value chain, helping ensure that material development, processing, and application requirements remain connected throughout the project.
The meeting also addressed value chain expectations, with partners discussing material performance and end-use requirements. These exchanges help provide a clearer framework for future work and support decision-making as developments move closer to demonstration and validation activities.
With its first year completed, UPCYCLE continues to progress according to plan. The next phase of the project will build on the foundations established so far, bringing partners closer to the shared objective of transforming mixed plastic waste into packaging materials that combine circularity, performance, and industrial relevance.
