The UPCYCLE consortium successfully held its second Executive Board meeting on 4 May 2026, bringing together partners to review progress, share updates across all work packages, and reinforce coordination as the project moves forward.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to assess the current status of activities and ensure alignment across the consortium, supporting the efficient implementation of UPCYCLE’s objectives. It also marked a further step in strengthening the project’s governance, with two new members joining the Advisory Board and reinforcing its link with key industry stakeholders.
Strong Progress Across Work Packages
All work packages presented updates, highlighting the steady progress achieved during the first months of the project.
Across the consortium:
- Multiple technical tasks are actively underway, with several processes moving toward more advanced stages
- Cross-cutting activities, including sustainability assessment, exploitation, and communication, are progressing in parallel
- Partners continue to collaborate closely across different areas of work
These updates confirmed that activities are advancing as planned, with strong coordination across work packages.

Key Milestone: Completion of WP1
An important highlight of the meeting was the successful completion of Work Package 1, marking the conclusion of the project’s initial phase.
WP1 has established essential foundations for UPCYCLE, including:
- The definition of the project framework and methodology
- The development of the business case approach
- Stakeholder engagement activities, including industry roundtables
- Initial market insights supporting future exploitation strategies
These results provide a solid basis for the next phases of the project, supporting both technical development and future implementation.
Moving Forward
As UPCYCLE progresses, partners will continue to build on these foundations, focusing on advancing technical activities while maintaining strong collaboration across the consortium.
The outcomes of the meeting reinforce this coordinated approach, ensuring that UPCYCLE remains well positioned to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for polymer upcycling.
