The UPCYCLE project is pleased to announce the next edition of the AAU Science Café, a series dedicated to fostering collaboration, innovation, and cross-disciplinary dialogue in the field of circular plastics. Organised by UPCYCLE Project Coordinator Aalborg University (AAU), this final event of the year will take place on 11 December 2025, with more Science Café sessions planned throughout the coming year.

On 6–7 November 2025, the Helmholtz SynCom project SPHERE hosted a high-level multi-stakeholder workshop at the Michelberger Hotel in Berlin, gathering 33 participants from policy, industry, civil society, and academia. The two-day event provided a unique platform for constructive dialogue on the future of plastics, bringing together experts to address the sector’s most pressing challenges and explore pathways toward sustainable plastics governance.

On 13 November 2025, Aalborg University (AAU) welcomed industry representatives, researchers, and circular-plastics enthusiasts to its latest Science Café: Bio-Upcycling, an event designed to bridge academic excellence with real-world industrial needs. Held in a hybrid format at AAU’s Aalborg East campus, the session offered a dynamic space for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and exploration of cutting-edge solutions for transforming plastic waste into valuable resources.

The UPCYCLE project was proudly represented at the ECO Chemical Solutions (ECHS) event held in Valencia from 11 to 13 November 2025. This edition of ECHS, organised by QUIMACOVA, brought together more than forty companies from the chemical sector based in the Valencian Community, many of which have a significant international presence.

From October 8 to 15, 2025, the international plastics and rubber industry gathered in Düsseldorf for the renowned K Fair 2025, the world’s leading event for innovation and sustainability in the sector. Among the key participants was AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Institute, proudly representing the Horizon Europe UPCYCLE Project, which focuses on advancing circular solutions for plastic waste through biotechnological and sustainable design approaches.

The UPCYCLE Plastics project has officially started its journey. On 8–9 October 2025, the consortium gathered at the Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant (BBEPP) in Ghent, Belgium, to mark the launch of this ambitious four-year Horizon Europe initiative. The two-day Kick-Off Meeting brought together partners from academia, industry, and innovation centres to align on the project’s mission, objectives, and first milestones.
