Role in Upcycle
Within the UPCYCLE project, EROSKI acts as a key end-user and demonstration partner, providing real-world insights and validation for the development of novel biodegradable and recyclable packaging materials. EROSKI’s main responsibilities include:
Defining technical and functional requirements for packaging applications, based on market needs and consumer expectations.
Testing and validating new eco-designed packaging solutions (e.g., flexible films for fresh produce, deli packaging, and bottles for beverages) in operational environments.
Conducting consumer panels and product validation workshops to assess the performance, usability, and acceptance of UPCYCLE’s innovative packaging.
Collaborating with consortium partners to ensure that developed materials meet regulatory standards, food safety requirements, and sustainability criteria.
By leveraging its extensive retail network and expertise in packaging, EROSKI will help accelerate the market uptake of UPCYCLE’s solutions, supporting the transition towards a circular and sustainable packaging value chain in Europe.
