The third Upcycle industry roundtable will take place on 15 April, bringing together Spanish stakeholders to explore how upcycling strategies and biobased materials can accelerate the shift toward more circular food packaging solutions. Organised by EROSKI and AIMPLAS, with the collaboration of the Basque Food Cluster, this session follows earlier roundtables held in Belgium and Denmark and concludes the threecountry series.
The workshop, titled “The Future of Food Packaging: Biobased Materials and New Solutions,” will gather representatives from across the food packaging value chain to discuss how upcycled feedstocks, biobased alternatives, and innovative material recovery pathways can reduce dependence on nonrecyclable plastics. Participants will examine current challenges, emerging opportunities, and the practical steps needed to scale circular packaging solutions in the Spanish market.
As the final roundtable of the series, the session will consolidate insights from Belgium, Denmark, and Spain, contributing to a broader understanding of how upcycling and circular design principles can reshape packaging practices across Europe. The discussion aims to strengthen collaboration among industry actors and support the transition toward more sustainable, resourceefficient packaging systems.
The outcomes of this final roundtable will help inform the project’s upcoming activities, ensuring that industry perspectives remain central as Upcycle continues shaping pathways toward a more circular packaging landscape.
