The Herres-Pawlis group at RWTH Aachen University has more than 15 years of experience in catalyst research for sustainable chemistry. Versatile and robust guanidine complexes enable the ring-opening polymerisation of lactones and also the chemical recycling of polyesters. Moreover, the group is active in extensive kinetic characterisation of these processes and in machine learning on these catalyst systems.
Role in Upcycle
Upscaling of catalyst synthesis for lactide polymerisation and polyester depolymerisation, transfer of catalyst systems, process optimisation, theoretical analyses of the mechanisms with DFT and machine learning.
